Serve for Success: Empowering Underprivileged Children Through Tennis

On the afternoon of the 27th of August, Game On took to the courts of Kwun Tong, hosting an event to bring tennis to kids in the area. For this event, Game On partnered with One Sports HK, a foundation with the goal of bringing tennis to more people in Hong Kong. Ten volunteers brought energy and passion to the kids, and the event was full of smiles and action.

The event opened with a fun warm-up session led by the volunteer coaches, who were immensely passionate and open to helping out. The kids were put through their paces with a running warm-up, followed by ball dribbling, which focused on hand-eye coordination.

Volunteer coaches then led the kids and guided them through swinging forehands and backhands, after which they fed balls, and the kids were able to try the sensation of hitting tennis balls.

After a short break, during which the kids recharged and were re-energized with soft drinks courtesy of Seed Soft drinks, the kids hopped back on court and played an exhilarating round of hitting the targets on court. With prizes at hand, the kids demonstrated the skills they learned throughout the day, and many were able to hit targets. Volunteer coaches also got involved; while some posed as targets, others attempted to hit them.

As the event winded down, the kids experienced a brilliant day of tennis and had some great fun. Volunteer coaches, too, learned some valuable lessons. All in all, it was a great success.

Game On and One Sports HK are immensely grateful to the sponsorships of Ming Pao and Seed Soft drinks, who made the event as successful as it was. Game On and One Sports HK are also immensely grateful to Coach Dickie and Coach Rahul, who contributed tennis balls and tennis racquets, and without their generosity, this event would not have been possible.

Game On continues to bring sport to underprivileged children in Hong Kong through this event and others.
