Serving Up Some Heat in SBSH & TWYMCA

During the long summer holiday, Game On organized several table tennis experience classes across various community centers. On July 30th and August 6th, we visited Saint Barnabas' Society and Home, and on July 15th, 22nd, and 29th, we partnered with Tsuen Wan YMCA for the first time. In total, we provided five sessions for underprivileged children to experience the joy of table tennis. Fourteen dedicated volunteers assisted us in coaching, bringing a positive and supportive atmosphere to the lessons, which greatly helped the children gain confidence and learn more effectively.

During the lessons, the coaches began by teaching the children how to hit the ball with a forehand stroke. They patiently adjusted the children's movements and offered encouragement instead of criticism, helping the children successfully return the ball to the table. Next, they introduced the backhand stroke, which the children quickly grasped and performed well.

To reinforce their new skills, we organized a friendly match where the children could showcase what they had learned. Although some picked up the techniques faster than others, everyone enjoyed the experience, as evidenced by the smiles on their faces.

We are deeply grateful to Saint Barnabas' Society and Home and Tsuen Wan YMCA for their generous support during these sessions. We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our volunteers for helping us bring joy to the children.

Looking ahead, Game On remains committed to providing underprivileged children with more opportunities to learn and enjoy different sports.
